Youth Night at Al-Amin Center: Muslim Identity

Imam Azhar Subedar’s September visit was all about the SFL Muslim youth. On Friday night he met a large number of young brothers and sisters at Al-Amin Center of Florida where he spoke about the Muslim Identity and answered questions the youth had.

Imam Azhar discussed the variables that make each individual different like food, culture, dress style, interactions, relationships, ideas, mental stability, languages etc.  While elaborating on each aspect, he explained how all of these aspects did not change our identity as Muslims. What really does determine identity of a Muslim are the 4 A’s- Appreciation, Affection, Attention and Acknowledgement. These four are responsible for determining the identity of a person in general as well. He ended by quoting a Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH):

اَللَّهُمَّ كَمَا حَسَّنْتَ خَلْقِي فَحَسِّنْ خُلُقِي

“O Allah You have made my creation perfect, so make my moral characteristics also be the best.”

Later they sat down around the bonfire to have an interactive session with Imam Azhar over smores.
