Assalam Alaikum,
On behalf of the South Florida Muslim Federation, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us for our Iftar Open House on Thursday, March 20. It was an honor to welcome our neighbors, friends, and distinguished guests for an evening of unity, dialogue, and shared understanding.
This gathering was more than just a meal—it was an opportunity to build bridges between communities, foster meaningful connections, and offer our non-Muslim neighbors a glimpse into the beauty of Islam and the holy month of Ramadan. We were deeply moved by the incredible turnout and the warmth and curiosity of our guests.
We were privileged to host esteemed speakers who enriched the evening with their insights and support. Special thanks to Vice Mayor of Coral Springs Nancy Metayer Bowen, Judge Norman Hemming, the Coral Springs Multicultural Committee, Noor Siraj from CAIR, Mugahed Alameri and Abdurauf from ICNA, Father Saul Mejia, Dr. Aisha Subhani, and the Guatemalan Mayan Center guests. Their presence and words underscored the importance of interfaith dialogue and community collaboration.
We also had the blessing of a beautiful Quran recitation by Brother Hamza Yacoob, setting the tone for an evening of reflection and connection.
As the sun set, we broke their fast with dates and lentil soup, followed by a delicious meal catered by La Marsa Mediterranean Cuisine. The warmth of hospitality was felt by all, as many attendees expressed their appreciation for the generosity and sincerity of the Muslim community.
Events like these would not be possible without the dedication and hard work of so many individuals. We extend our deepest gratitude to our volunteers Sister Lubna, Sister Narida, and Sister Aya along with Sister Neirah, Sister Meera, and Sister Mim who ensured a seamless and welcoming experience for our guests.
We are also deeply thankful to our event sponsors, ICNA Relief and CAIR Florida, for their unwavering support in making this gathering a success.
One of the most heartening takeaways from the evening was hearing from our guests about how welcomed they felt—not just at the event, but by the community itself. Many shared their surprise at the level of involvement and service the Muslim community provides to those in need. It was a reminder that events like these are essential in breaking down barriers and strengthening bonds of friendship and understanding.
We sincerely appreciate everyone who took the time to join us, and we look forward to continuing these conversations and connections in the future. May this be the beginning of many more shared experiences to come.
