This past weekend, families and youth from across South Florida came together for our Muslim Family Camp, a meaningful outdoor experience that brought our community closer in a fun and refreshing way. It was a weekend filled with activity, connection, and the chance to enjoy nature as a community.

Campers took part in a variety of activities including archery, hiking, fishing, running, and other outdoor games that gave both youth and adults a chance to try new things and enjoy time together. Throughout the weekend, families had the opportunity to step away from their daily routines, spend quality time with one another, and meet new people from across the region.

One of the highlights was gathering around the campfire, where families enjoyed s’mores and conversation in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Together, the group experienced moments that reminded everyone of the importance of community, unplugging, and making space to reconnect with each other.

We were also grateful to have Abdul Kareem Al Selwady join us for a martial arts session with the brothers. His time and effort added a special element to the weekend, and his engagement with the youth was greatly appreciated.

We would like to acknowledge the camp sponsor, Human Appeal USA, our Federation member as a non-profit, faith-based organization providing relief and development programs globally and domestically to combat poverty and social injustice. Key activities include disaster relief, orphan support, healthcare, education, livelihood programs, and domestic services within the US. In 2023, the organization supported over 4.3 million people globally. Please consider donating to this wonderful cause. For more information, visit Human Appeal USA.

A special thank you goes to Brother Hesham Ali and Sister Eman Gomaa, the amazing youth team, and all of the other volunteers and families whose dedication made the entire experience possible. From organizing activities to ensuring everyone felt supported, their hard work created an environment where families could simply enjoy the weekend. And a special thanks to all the youth and families who attended — your participation and enthusiasm brought the camp to life.

This camp was a wonderful reminder of what happens when our community comes together with intention and purpose. We look forward to building on this success and offering even more opportunities for families to connect, grow, and strengthen their bonds in the years ahead.
