Job Title:
Senior Religious Director

Job Purpose:
The Islamic Center of South Florida (ICOSF) is looking for an experienced Religious Director
that can develop ICOSF into a vibrant house of worship that engenders spiritual unity amidst
the racial diversity of the Muslim community by providing authentic Islamic education and
spiritual and counseling services. Particular emphasis will be placed on nurturing the
community’s youth to instill in them love of their religion and mold them to be the future leaders
of Islam. We will strive to be a dynamic institution that leads with care and compassion in a
manner true to prophetic teaching and relevant to the needs of the community.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Religious Director will work to provide a sense of community and educational opportunities
that enable the South Florida Muslim community to thrive spiritually and overcome the
challenges posed by modernity. Moreover, to foster civic engagement, oppose injustice and
advocate for the rights of the Muslims. They will work hand in hand with the Board of Directors
to develop and accomplish the goals and vision of ICOSF. They will also use their expertise to
advise the Board on religious matters, develop and manage religious and social programs.
They will oversee the committees of ICOSF and ensure they develop and achieve goals that are
inline with the ICOSF vision.
• Responsible for working with the religious affairs committee to identify and address the
needs of the varying segments of the community.
• Responsible for instilling principles of Sunni Islam by helping to develop enriching and
engaging Islamic programs and activities.
• Responsible for leading the effort to address the community’s educational, spiritual, and
social needs.
• Responsible for opening and sustaining dialogue and collaboration with ICOSF’s
neighboring institutions.
• Work with the Board to understand the organization’s goals and help implement them.
• Create recruitment policies and methods to attract talented staff and volunteers, grow their
skillset, and to assess their effectiveness.
• Responsible for developing professionally through continuing education, workshops, etc.
• Responsible for networking with the community on a regular basis in an effort to
understand their needs and to recruit talent.
• Report and review progress with the Board on a continuous basis.
• Coach volunteer coordinators and committee managers on communication skills and best
management practices.
• Responsible for raising spiritual leaders amongst the community.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in Islamic Sciences or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years of direct management experience in a masjid.
• Fluency in English and in Arabic.
• Legal Resident of the United States.
• Mainstream Ahl-Sunnah wa-Jamaa’.
• Teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced studies in Islamic Sciences or related field.
• 4-6 years of experience as the Religious Director of a masjid.
• Large scale event organization experience.
• Experience working with and organizing multi teams.
• Continued developing their skills by taking training and certification programs in related
subjects.
