South Florida Muslim Federation organized the first ever IslamInSpanish event in South Florida over the weekend. Imam Isa Parada and Br. Alex Gutierrez of ‘IslamInSpanish’ team from Houston, TX joined us on July12 and 13 for a series of special programs focused on Latino communities in the tri-county area. The aim was to educate Latino Muslims & non-Muslims alike on the Islamic Roots in the Latino Culture and the similarities between Muslim and Latino values.
Imam Isa Prada delivered a special Friday sermon in Spanish at Islamic Foundation of SFL on July 12. Another Spanish Khutbah was delivered by Br. Omar Uddin at Masjid Miami Gardens. Later that evening, a panel discussion was held at Islamic Center of Greater Miami on ways to nurture new Muslims. The main event of ‘IslamInSpanish’ weekend was held at Masjid Jamaatul Muttaqeen on Saturday July 13, where Imam Isa and Alex Gutierrez delivered a lecture on ‘Islamic Roots in Latino Culture’.
