Alhamdulillah, on the evening of February 26th, 2026, nearly 100 neighbors gathered at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts for a Community Iftar that reminded us of something simple and powerful — that sharing a meal can change everything.
Organized by the South Florida Muslim Federation alongside the Coral Springs Multicultural Advisory Committee, the evening brought together residents, community leaders, and elected officials in a spirit of reflection and unity during the blessed month of Ramadan.
We were honored by the presence of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen, Commissioners Shawn Cerra and Anthony Caggiano, and community candidates Oliver Larkin and Jeff Adelman — a testament to the growing relationship between the Muslim community and the city of Coral Springs. Remarks from Dr. Aisha Subhani, Barbara Eriv, and Dr. Blaise Amendolace grounded the evening in both meaning and purpose, while special guests Dr. Zafar Qureshi, Director of UMC Clinic, and Imran Bashir, Board Member of the Islamic Center of Coral Springs, added depth to a night already full of heart.
Evenings like this are what the South Florida Muslim Federation strives to create — spaces where neighbors become friends, and where unfamiliarity gives way to understanding. Ramadan, at its core, is a month of connection, and this iftar embodied that beautifully.
