Unifying Our Muslim Charities & Social Services
Muslim Charities & Social Service Council
A first meeting of several South Florida Muslim charities and social service organizations.
Last Friday, January 25, 2019, South Florida Muslim Charites and Social Service Federation members met to start working in unison and started to brainstorm on the important needs of the community. Several national and local charities including Friends of Humanity, Islamic Relief, Islamic Circle of North America, CAIR-Florida and members of the Federation participated and are all very excited about working together and strengthening our communities’ footprint in South Florida. The Council is creating a Report Card at the request of Federation members to assist the Mosques with out-of-state charity fundraising requests. The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) Relief’s Taha Quershi said, “I’ve touched base with a lot of communities across the U.S. and one thing that sets us apart from others is our sense of unity and collaboration. Reservations aside, I do think this is a step in the right direction. The Federation is making strides in formalizing these relationships and procedures.”
