South Florida Muslims Meet to Roll Out New Mosque Safety & Security Procedures

(Miami, FL, 04/24/2019) – On 04/21/2019 the South Florida Muslim Federation held it’s Bi-Annual member meeting at the Miami Gardens Mosque located at 4305 NW 183rd St, Miami Gardens, FL. During this meeting the Federation updated its members on activities of the Imam’s Council, Muslim Charities & Social Service Council and several other activities.


During the meeting the South Florida Muslim Community elected county representatives that will act as a spokesperson for the Muslim Community in their respective county. These county representatives will serve on the Federation Executive Committee, ensuring representation from each county. The following are the new representatives:

  • Zakia Subhani (Miami-Dade)
  • Yunus Ismail (Broward)
  • Abdurauf Khan (Palm Beach)

“Thanks to Allah first and foremost, and thanks to our members, our community is moving from a place of working separately, to a place of respectful discussion and collaboration, for the benefit of all. We have only just begun to see the potential. I welcome our new Federation member organizations, as well as our newly elected Executive Committee County Representatives.”, says Samir Kakli, the South Florida Muslim Federation President.

The Safety & Security Teams of the South Florida Mosques also met to receive training and roll out new Safety & Security procedures to protect our worshipers and the community. Studies indicate there has been a significant increase in hate crimes and incidents in Florida.

We are very excited that the Muslim community has united to work together and streamline our resources and goals.”
