On June 5th, Representatives from several organizations: Al-Awda, Jewish Voice for Peace, Students for Justice for Palestine (SJP), South Florida Muslim Federation, Dream Defenders – and volunteers from all faiths and backgrounds assembled to plan the path forward for Palestine work in South Florida. Anas Amireh from Al-Awda South Florida set the stage for the meeting, explaining the background, the recent wins and momentum, as well as the importance to make this a sustained effort (a marathon rather than a sprint).
Committees were established as follows
Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS)
Education/Awareness
Protests/Events
Youth Recruitment
Politics
Media Outreach
Social Media
Leads and volunteers for each of these committees met in broke out sessions, and formulated next steps for each group, which was presented in the closing session.
