MEDIA COVERAGE: Florida Muslims Unite for Bahamas Relief

Florida Muslims for Bahamas

After the devastation that took place by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas impacting 400,000 citizens, the South Florida Muslim Federation took the first steps to coordinate relief items from 21 masjids and organizations holding supply drives across the state. Our community was able to put together supplies worth approximately $25,000 for those that were impacted. Community members and volunteers met at Masjid Jamaat Al’Mu-mineen in Margate on September 23rd to pack boxes for the containers filled with emergency materials. Media coverage of our work has been reported by NBC, CBS, ABC, The Miami Herald, and other media outlets from the Tampa and Orlando areas.

Great work by the South Florida Muslim Community, it is epic to see how all of us got together in a short amount of time and were able to accomplish boxes full of foods, infant formulas, baby needs, health supplies, generators, tarps, bedding, clothing, shoes for our Bahamian neighbors in need.

Special thanks to Masjid Jamaat ul-Mumineen, Helping Hands for Relief and Development, Friends of Humanity, Al-Amin Center, ICBR, IFSF, ISOM, Masjid Al-Ihsaan, IJA, AICF, ICOSF, ICGM, ICB, Masjid Muttaqeen, Nurul Islam, Masjid Al-Ansar, MCPBC, Basmah, ICNA CSJ, UHI, Emgage, and CAIR FL, and all the Masajid Across Florida who participated in this effort.
