SFL Muslim Federation held its bi-annual General Body Meeting on Saturday, May 21st at Islamic Center of South Florida (ICOSF). The meeting was attended by a number of prominent community leaders from the tri-county area. Federation Executive Committee presented some of the key highlights of the year followed by an open forum in which members made important announcements, raised concerns and discussed ways that can help strengthen the community.

Participating members reviewed the operations of federation since the last meeting in Oct 2021 and discussed ways that can help improve it as well as strengthen the community. Some of the key takeaways from the meeting were:

  • By-laws committee to revise the federation by-laws. The five member committee will include CAIR-FL’s Wilfredo Ruiz and Sabha Ali Hammad, and IFSF’s Sheryar Wahid. Two other names from YM SFL and Imams Council will be announced soon.
  • Regional strategic planning committee will be formed including, but not limited to Ameer Mufleh (ICOSF), Jamil Rizvi (IJA), and Bassem Halabi (ICBR).
