South Florida Muslim Federation hosted a special appreciation lunch for board members of School District of Palm Beach County to recognize their efforts and support towards equity and diversity. SDPBC recently approved Eid day-off for the 2022-23 School Calendar following the lead of Broward County Public School Board.

The school board members present at the occasion included Vice Chair Karen Brill, Erica Whitfield and Alexandria Ayala, while Samir Kakli, President SFL Muslim Federation, VP Muhammad Irshad, Rep. for PR & Communications Junaid Akhter, Broward County Rep. Yunus Ismail and Advisor Afifa Khaliq represented the federation. Several PBC Muslim leaders and federation members were also in attendance to appreciate and celebrate this key milestone including Al-Amin Center of Florida, Baitul Mukarram, Muslim Community of PBC, Emgage, Basmah and ICBR.

Muslim school children presented awards of appreciation on behalf of federation to school board members. It was a very healthy and warm discussion. The school board members were extremely supportive of the Muslim community and expressed their wish to continue to do more.
