Alhamdulillah, (Thanks to God), the Broward County Public School board passed the motion on Dec 14, 2021, in a 7-1 vote to approve the 2022-2023 school calendar, which includes April 21st, 2023 (Eid ul-Fitr) as an official school day off. It is moments like this in which we thank Allah (swt) for His tremendous Blessings and Mercy in bringing this honor to our community.

To celebrate this momentous decision, a celebratory dinner was hosted by South Florida Muslim Federation and Broward Schools MSA Council. A large number of South Florida Muslim Leaders and key representative from the Broward County and Broward County Public Schools.

Prominent among the attendees were Mayor Messam, City of Miramar, Sabrina Javellana, City of Hallandale; School Board Members Dr. Rosalind Osgood, Nora Rupert, Ann Murray, and Debra Hixon;  Dr. Barbara Sharief, Broward County Commission, and Tom Albano Equity & Diversity Department

The leaders present at the occasion congratulated the community, calling it a big win and vowed to continue their efforts and support in promoting equity and goodwill, and safeguarding interests of SFL Muslim community.

Alhamdo Lillah, while we continue to cherish this historical epic moment, efforts are already being made to get a similar resolution passed by the other South Florida School Board Districts, in sha Allah.
