Broward County, Cooper City, Hollywood, Miramar and Pembroke Pines Declare May as Muslim Heritage Month
(Miami, FL 05/19/2019) – The South Florida Muslim Federation is happy to announce that Broward County, Cooper City, The City of Hollywood, The City of Miramar and The City of Pembroke Pines have all issued Proclamations designating May as Muslim American Heritage Month during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
For the first time in Broward County history, 5 different local governments declare May as Muslim American Heritage Month. These great honors were given to the Muslim community during the holy month of Ramadan. This comes as a direct result of the interaction between our local governments and the Muslim community. Broward county is home to an estimated 76k Muslims from all over the globe and we contribute to every walk of life.

The time to embrace diversity and promote unity is now!”, says Naima Khan-Ghany, Broward County School Teacher, Muslim Student Association Advisor and Board Member of Friends Of Humanity International.
The South Florida Muslim Federation applauds and welcomes the proclamations and declarations from our local governments. It is encouraging to see the spirit of inclusion and diversity with our elected officials. At a time when American Muslims are being targeted and suffering a record number of hate crimes and cases of discrimination. We know the South Florida Muslim community will welcome these honors.
